The Wentworth Clinic - About Us
The Wentworth Clinic was established in the year 2000 and is a dream product of a husband and wife team, Ilanko and Regina Ilankovan.
Ilanko Ilankovan
Mr Ilankovan is a Consultant Facial, Head and Neck Surgeon. He has worked as a NHS consultant at Poole Hospital, Dorset since 1993. He qualified in Dentistry in Sri Lanka and obtained his Medical Degree at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff. He holds fellowship in Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery and General Surgery of both Edinburgh and English Royal College of Surgeons.
He has extensive training in facial plastics, head and neck reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. His post graduate training took place in Wales, West of Scotland and the North East. He was also trained at the world renowned Mayo Clinic under Professor Ian Jackson.
He set up a local cancer charity called About Face with the help of his patients and friends for the benefit of Dorset and Hampshire cancer patients. He has established 3 cleft lip and palate units in South India which are now training centres for trainees from the United Kingdom and other European Countries. He is a visiting Professor of Head and Neck cancer at the Beijing Cancer Hospital.
His philosophy in Facial Aesthetic Surgery is to provide a comprehensive three dimensional surgery to bring about a pleasant and unoperated outcome. This is akin to a gourmet dish without identifying what components went in to make the food so tasty.
He has contributed to chapters and books and published over 50 papers in peer review journals. He lectures around the world in Facial Plastic Surgery and belongs to the follow organisations:

Regina Ilankovan
Regina Ilankovan qualified in Sri Lanka and obtained her Post Graduate training in Wales and Scotland. She has been in General Dental Practice for a number of years after a spell in Paediatric Dentistry. For the last 5 years she has been concentrating on Aesthetic Dentistry. She has been trained, particularly in veneers, crowns and dental implants and laser tooth whitening techniques in the USA, UK and Europe. Her expertise also include Skin Care Procedures such as Chemical and Jet Peels. She is a Member of the British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry. The Jet Peel service she has established is only the second in the country.
Her philosophy is to provide a balanced facial projection which should give a natural appearance without giving a Hollywood artificial smile. She firmly believes that general well being and Aesthetics should go hand in hand.
Location
Wentworth Clinic is situated on the idyllic Southbourne enclave of Bournemouth just 200 yards from Bournemouth Beach. The clinic is purpose build which provides an excellent ambience for patients to relax and to receive treatment.
Accommodation
The clinic also works with a hotel in Bournemouth to provide confortable accommodation for short or longer stays in the area with special rates for our clients.
Facilities
The clinic has an operating theatre, dental surgery, recovery rooms, consulting rooms and treatment rooms. It is well supported by a Theatre Sister, Aesthetician, Nurses, Receptionist and Secretary. It is registered with the Health Care Commission to provide outpatient surgery and also is recognised by major insurance companies such as BUPA, Norwich Union, PPP and WPA.
Parking
Limited car parking is available at the back and a large public car park is situated only 50 yards away from the clinic.
Philisophy
The philosophy of the clinic is to provide comprehensive oral, facial and skin care treatments under one roof. The patient is seen by the clinician, a treatment plan is formed to provide a balanced and healthy outcome. The patient pathway begins with the initial contact for appointments and ends as a satisfied customer.
